Staggered rib WIP on sleep deprivation

Last week was quite busy at home. I knew my daughter would get sick at daycare. What I didn't know is that she would have an ear infection every three weeks. I didn't know her ear infection would mean runny nose or sleep deprivation (or both) for me. No complaints. I am just putting it out here: I am very naive first time parent.

There was some knitting this week. Can't remember when or how did that happen. But there is a picture to prove it. I cannot force myself work on complicated projects these days (re read paragraph one). So, I'm in "accessory mode". Without further delay, here is my Staggered rib scarf. This is a really cool pattern designed by Suzie Blackman. Details on my raverly.

Totally random, but close to my heart...did you watch the Australian Open men's final? I really wanted that trophy for Rafael Nadal (Vamos Rafa!). But Djokovic played amazingly well. He deserves the fat check. What about football? Are you getting ready for the Super Bowl? Will you knit & watch or eat & watch?

Have a great week and happy knitting!

FO: Neck warmer

Atlanta is under the weather. It had rained for three days. There is not much to do other than knit, eat and be indoors - in pjs. I have done all three;

the knitting- I finished the Mock Brioche, Mock the Cold! by Purlverde. Details in my raverly page. Loved knitting this simple project. I had to improvised with the buttons. Used some mismatched ones and liked the end result. The neck warmer is really cozy.

How is your weekend going? Are you watching the game?

Pattern? Checkers dishcloth,  from Fearless Knitting by Jennifer Seiffert

Whats in for me?
Learned that row markers make the difference – even with simple projects! Post-it tabs help thirty-something year old human read charts (thanks greenhorn knitter for the tip).

Knitting school

I have bought many knitting books and magazines throughout the years. But, the only book that I have read and used as reference is Stitch 'N Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook by Debbie Stroller. Although is a great book, and the one that got me into the groove, it is a shame that I have not taken advantage of my other purchases.

Its time to change the habit of buying and not using. I will start with Fearless Knitting Workbook by Jennifer Seiffert. In my opinion, this is an excellent beginner to advanced beginner book with practical and concise information  The book has practice exercises in each chapter. Just like those math books that we (I) dreaded in 8th grade.

Fearless

Is charming to be back to "school" now that I can chose the subject and get to grade myself.

Resolutions. I can do that. Can I?

I am so excited to start a fresh year. Lots of resolutions spinning in my head. I thought putting it out here will make me somehow accountable:
  • no drinking during January. Those happy hours with the girls are starting to "high-five" me from down my belly button. Baby steps. Just one month.
  • no sweets during January. Re read above.
  • one block per month to be later converted into a blanket.
  • organization. Will see if planning vs reacting makes me a tin more relaxed.
  • continue laughing, enjoying, relaxing. I will not leave this resolution for next year. No way.
  • knit, knit and more knit
What are you up to?

This print goes perfect with those resolutions. Love its simplicity. It is from happydeliveries none less. Really nice!
