What's not to love?

This year my husband got a diner reservation on February 14th to celebrate the love and because we are always hungry. I wasn’t looking forward to spending my free time (and space) with the Valentines crowd. To my surprise, I really enjoyed our child less evening at a nice Cuban restaurant. The place was packed but the food, flan, live music and service were excellent. Who cares if there was extra PDA on the next table?! Mind your margarita and husband (substitute for boyfriend, friend, mother, flan, seven layers chocolate mousse cake, or whatever fills your heart with joy) and you are a happy tenant. If you are in the area and crave for Cuban food be sure to visit Mojitos in historic Norcross just outside the Atlanta metro area.

Knitting-wise, I am in need of a pair of mittens for the 50 - 60 degrees that we have been getting in Atlanta. I also need to cast on and finish a project with less than a hundred yards

soon to be mittens

Is my intention to convert these stitches into beautiful fingerless mitts. Of course, I raveled about it.

How about you? Are you working on your projects and starting new ones? Life is too short to have a handful of WIPs.

Garter stitches extravaganza

Lately, garter stitches have been more than pleasant to me. I can understand why others think is the most boring thing ever. Is true you will not do the Tom Cruise's couch jumping act with this project. This is a no brainier  do your stuff until you fall asleep kind of project. And for the record, I can think of a million things even more boring that garter (nothing personal against my dentist).

This past week my husband was out of town. My toddler slept well. I  had too many nights staying up until wee hours, five days forgetting to set the wake up alarm (that is HIS task) and, an entire chocolate cake. I will need some more chocolate to recover.

Hope that next week you (and I) remember to set the alarm and have plenty of opportunities to play with nice yarn. Happy knitting!

A birthday celebration

Friday was my birthday. I took the day off from work and spent the morning / early afternoon with my best friend and the evening with my family. What made my day:

Beautiful flowers...

Home made tiramisu; a gift I wish to get every year...

Funny cards loaded with the sweetest birthday wishes (yes, they share a theme)...

The official birthday cake...sacher torte

Shoes...

And, for full disclosure, my age...

There was some knitting as well. I'll show you that in another post. Hope that you have a wonderful week!
