Back to reality

The husband and I took a mini break from work, parenthood and metro area chaos. We drove back to town yesterday--feeling renovated and ready to resume adult responsibilities :-)

I am in love with Asheville, the Smoky Mountains and North Carolina's endless fiber possibilities. How cool is to combine social responsibility and fiber? Well done EcoView Fiber Mill.  How about a wonderful craft shop? I dream to come back to these lands soon! Maybe for my second Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair (SAFF)?

Of course, I picked up a fiber item or two as souvenirs. I'll show them later. I now need to prepare for what promise to be one of the busiest week at work. Fun times ahead. Have a wonderful week, my friends!

Claiming my blog

Hey, I must be the only blogger who didn't know that one must "claim" the blog. Here we go:

Since it feels a bit odd to ask for something without offering anything in return, how about a picture of my latest endeavors: spinning and everything related--including a sexy niddy noddy.

Hope you stay with me. See you next time; have a great weekend.

WIP: Checkerboard Lace Scarf

The Purl Bee was my introduction into crafty blogs. I had the opportunity to visit Purl Soho last year. The one experience I was missing was knitting one of their patterns.

This is my "Checkerboard Lace Scarf". The project is not difficult but the twenty row repeats require attention. Mess up one stitch and forget about checkerboards.

The important stuff:

  • Pattern: Checkerboard Lace Scarf by Purl Soho
  • Yarn: Jojoland Melody, 3-ply, light fingering
  • Needles: Addi's US 7 - 4.5 mm
  • Mods: I would recommend knitting more than two knit stitches at the beginning and end of each row to prevent the crazy curling that you see in the picure above.

This is also the first WIP that I am entering on My Sister's Knitter KAL. If you haven't check out this KAL, don't wait any longer! There is plenty of inspiration, chatter and support for every knitter around the globe.

I'm linking with with Tami's Amis WIPs once again!

FO: Tutti Frutti Socks

What??? A second pair of socks. Are you proud of me or what? Who ever said sock knitting is addictive was right. I have no plans to become a master sock knitter a la Andi. But, I see simple socks in my future.

I followed Stephanie Pearl-McPhee's "Step-by-Step Cheat Sheet for Socks" and ended up with a pair of socks. Clever!

The important stuff:
  • Pattern: Step-by-Step Cheat Sheet for Socks
  • Yarn: Meilenweit 100 Trend (discontinued)
  • Bare feet model: my three year old daughter
  • Happiness level: orange (a.k.a very high)
  • Project page: here
I'm linking in with Tamis Amis FO's...enjoy one more Friday!
