Etsy Love: Decal Edition

Black and White. Knitting inspired. What's not to love? Is raining in Atlanta. Perfect weather for finishing a sock weight square for Bertie's blanket, making a dent on a shawl or casting on a sock.

Enjoy the weekend!

Indie Craft Parade

It has been quiet here but busy in the neighborhood. Some bumps in the road have made it difficult to keep up with the blog. Thankfully, road trips have kept us out of the house and entertained.

I have been dragging the family to fall art festivals. First was the “Indie Craft Parade” in Geenville, South Carolina. I was really impressed by the display of talent at the historic Huguenot Mill, where the festival was held.

Some of my favorite booths:

My finds:

A "hand made" stamp

Oxidized silver jewelry

Art

I can spot the street where my work office is located; isn't that cool?

I will be posting about other festivals soon...for me to remember for you to discover.

Don't try this at home

I've been looking for a yarn winder. I am afraid of tree climbing.

This print by Gretchen, available at june at noon, makes my day!

Resolutions. I can do that. Can I?

I am so excited to start a fresh year. Lots of resolutions spinning in my head. I thought putting it out here will make me somehow accountable:
  • no drinking during January. Those happy hours with the girls are starting to "high-five" me from down my belly button. Baby steps. Just one month.
  • no sweets during January. Re read above.
  • one block per month to be later converted into a blanket.
  • organization. Will see if planning vs reacting makes me a tin more relaxed.
  • continue laughing, enjoying, relaxing. I will not leave this resolution for next year. No way.
  • knit, knit and more knit
What are you up to?

This print goes perfect with those resolutions. Love its simplicity. It is from happydeliveries none less. Really nice!

Oh...this print makes me smile BIG time! Holiday greens and reds and yarn really go together. Check it out at Rebekka Seale Art and Illustration.

My family live thousands miles apart. We don't have many opportunities to get everyone under the same roof. Christmas is one of the few. I am so looking forward to having my sister and parents at our home. I cannot wait to see my daughter surrounded by so much love from all of us. What are you looking forward to?

I did it

Today is the last day of National Blog Posting Month. It was great to be here every day; documenting what is going on. I've get to know a few other bloggers and have started visiting their site regularly.

Tomorrow we are taking off to sunny Florida. This family needs a break.

What a perfect ocassion to introduce the work of amazing photographer Sarah Moldovan. Go check her awesome captures in her shop. Here are some of my favorite. Be inspired!

I'll be back here next week. Until then, happy knitting! Cheers!

I dream of having my "studio" at home. You know, that space that is just yours; where you can daydream and create at your rhythm. I would definitely decorate with handmade items. With beautiful work just like this print from Julie Nelson Rhodes. There are other prints and greeting cards at her etsy shop. I think my favorite card is the make one (M1).

Small goodies

I really wanted to take pictures of the WIP cowl but I waited too long. The sun did not come out in Atlanta.

Knitting in the round would be much more fun with any of these handmade stitch markers. They make great small gifts for any knitter (hint!).

All the markers are from Etsy. Top to bottom: Fairy Tale Stitch Markers from Heidi & Lana; Stitch Markers Button It - Citrus from Chaton Designs; Turquoise Infinity Ring Knitting Stitch Markers from The Twice Sheared Sheep.

These mittens are my latest addition to the never ending Etsy love list. I adore the lace on them! They are the creation of Daniela form Hand Made in Italy.

Check this youtube video of Daniela working with her circular sock machine. It is really cool!

I’m getting ready to start my holiday knitting. In the ideal world these holiday projects are not to be revealed until December 25th. But that is a long time for keeping a secret – a skill I have not mastered yet.

I have selected the patterns and will choose the yarn next. This is taking longer than usual because I cannot make my mind on where to buy the yarn. I really want to support my local yarn stores but at the same time I am lured with the competitive prices of online stores. Since time is of essence, the plan is to visit my LYS and fall in love with a yarn and marry it (no worries, I will pay for it). Then I will buy online whatever I did not get at the store. I am at peace with my plan of supporting the community and my bank account.

Do you know that a mocha coffee paired with a marble loaf clears your mind and helps you make decisions….just saying!

How is your week going?

Well, is only Tuesday and I am in desperate need of a break. I have been working long hours and not necessarily happy hours. Knowing that our small family has a full schedule for the weekend does not make look forward to Friday.  How to be at peace when there is "too much" going around? May I suggest knitting, chocolate and sleep? Here is a print from Lisa Barbero via Etsy with another suggestion. Love it!

I would buy all the items on the Drama Llama Knitting Co. shop if I could. From the hand-dyed yarn to the beautiful woven pouches. Go check the shop; it would inspire you to create and follow your passions. And maybe you can buy a pouch or two. For the record, these are in my Christmas wish list (hint!).
