A year older...

What a month so far. Birthday, surprise vacation and hand made Valentines had bring so much joy. I am older but just as happy :-)

For my birthday, my husband surprised with a romantic Caribbean vacation. Not only we stayed in beautiful place but he also scored tickets to see my favorite Latin American singer -- she gave a concert in Dominican Republic for Valentines Day!

It was one of the best gifts ever! Great music, succulent food, new friends, fun knitting and warm weather.

Here are some pictures of the trip. The full album is here.

A dear friend gifted me a pattern for my birthday. Seemed logical to cast on my way to Dominican Republic. This shawl is a joy to knit. Project details: here.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend.

A visit to Northwoods Farm

No vacation is complete without a fiber souvenir. On our recent trip to South Carolina, my husband I visited Northwoods Farm Fiber Company. I knew that seeing just one Alpaca would make my day. I was not prepared for seeing 30+ Alpacas, meeting a wonderful group of knitters or bringing home a spinning wheel. What??

The farm has a wonderful shop. Full of a good variety of yarns and fiber. I chose a heavenly chocolate roving as my first souvenir. No one had to twist my arm for my second purchase: a new to me Louet spinning wheel. Julia is now my second wheel. I got it for less than half the retail price--with all the bobbins, lazy kate and about a pound of mystery yet soft as butter fiber. I am truly, madly in love with the wheel!

Summer officially begun in the US. I will not let the heat stop me from spinning and knitting like there is no tomorrow. At least, that is my dream. What are your plans for the weekend?

FO: Casu Cowl

I'm the proud mama of a new cowl.

It was my first time using Manos del Uruguay Maxima. The yarn is a pleasure to knit with. Being a single ply must be the reason for the yarn's softness and look. Thanks Clara Parkes for explaining it so well here.

Yesterday I went back to work after taking several days off. Let me tell you, It wasn't easy to suddenly end with my non stop knitting, blog reading, no make up, pony tail days! The teachers at my daughter's day care are probably grateful with me being back to work. I can tell from their faces they feared something was going on. I am sure there is some relief with my "back to normal" look. And yes, the daughter went to daycare during my vacation. No remorse. She loves spending time with her friends; mommy needed some me time.

I am joining Tami's Amis FO Fridays...because I love both FOs and Fridays!
