Handspun warmth

"Life must be lived and curiosity kept alive.
One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life."
--Eleanor Roosevelt

And with that...let's turn our attention to wool.

The iconic Age of Brass and Steam came back home. This time with a few modifications such as: handspun Alpaca yarn (dark brown), stripes and picot edging. This is my third Age of Brass and definitely not the last.

I am amazed of how well the stitches look considering most of the shawl is my handspun. The light brown is commercial Brown Sheep in Sports weight.

Keeping the handspun theme, this is my latest skein. It is Corriedale handprinted by the wonderful and local Gale's Art. And art it is.

Have a mindful, peaceful weekend. Keep creating....

  1. Love your shawl! I might have to shamelessly copy that idea, because I have some brown alpaca handspun too. For some reason, I never think of combining handspun and commercial yarn, even though it's a great way to stretch handspun a little further. :)

    1. Thanks Kristin. You know, the yarns don't even have to be same weight. Combined with some thick and thin of handspun, commercial yarns add interest...in my opinion. My next thing would be combining different handspun(at least 2) with commercial. I am just having too much fun with my stash :-)

  2. Isn't it amazing how with all the choices of patterns we have, there are those special ones that keep us coming back for more. Much like a longtime friend.
    Your shawl is stunning!

    1. Familiar friends, places and things bring comfort. Something that I find myself needing these days. Thanks for stopping by, my dear friend.

  3. The stitches are perfection because your spinning is perfection. That shawl is a feast for my eyes. I can't stop looking at how even the handspun knitted up. What do I need to do to convince you to do some spinning tuts? Should I dye you some yarn? How's that for bribery? LOLOL!

A peaceful week to you friend. xo

    1. Thanks for your always kind words. The handspan is everything but perfect. Somehow, when you knit with love things look good :-) Must admit that hand dyed yarn from you is very tempting incentive...My best advice might take two seconds to communicate: spin wit your heart and go by the rules only if you want to. I am not too technical...I am just the boss of my spinning :-)
