A New Way to Think About Hats

A new way to think about hats: one cannot have too many.

In my opinion, a perfect hat must fit comfortably and be fun to knit. The following met the criteria.

One of those days that I felt like re inventing the wheel, I combined hand-dyed fibers from my stash to create some crazy happy yarn. It was perfect for a Rikke hat.

Hat number two made an appearance on the blog as a WIP in...2015 (shame!). Pattern is L'Arbre by Cirilia Rose.

The Vermonter by Abi Gregorio is the definition for instant gratification. I have some left over yarn for a pom-pom!

Hope that you all enjoy the holidays with our loved ones. Wishing you love, peace and more knitting time in the New Year.

FO: Hats of 2012

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving day or plain Thursday, depending on your location.

I finished these hats a long time ago but waited until I had modeled pictures to post here. Well, my daughter did not sit still; the sheepy did. Let's debut the hats and move on.

The hats are 100% cotton. Not the warmest but good enough for short walks.

Yeah, gauge is important. Notice how well this toddler hat fits me. My heart is young but I'm not a baby.

I have my eye on these patterns for when the next hat fever attacks:
Stay warm!

Honoring Amy

After doctor and ER visits, repeated doses of medicines and some rest: I’m back! All is well now. We (baby and I) are getting better from skin allergies, reactions to medicines and viral bronchitis. I don’t want to turn this post downhill…so let’s get to knitting really fast.

This post, from Erin of Eat.Sleep.Knit, touched my heart in a way I cannot explain. Erin and Dan’s desire to honor Amy is admirable. I wanted to take part of this tribute no matter what was going on in my neck of the woods. Here is my contribution – with all my love.

There is still nine days between now and July 26 when Erin will take the hats to the NICU at Piedmont Hospital. Please pray for this family; knit a hat if you can! It would mean so much for you and a family in need.
